Product Description

  • Basic Use
    • Texturglas is a glass textile wallcovering that is a component of a wall finish system comprised of adhesive, glass textile wallcovering and a paint finish that allows the specifier a breadth of performance characteristics.  The system can provide custom color, durability, wall strength and low maintenance for renovation and new construction.  Nonflammable and environmentally friendly, Texturglas systems are an excellent choice for hospitals, hotels, schools, churches, museums, office buildings and residential construction. Texturglas can be used to resurface and rehabilitate old wall surfaces by bridging cracks and smoothing rough surfaces.  It may be applied over wood paneling, brick, stucco, tile and drywall with only minimal surface preparation.  Significant features of Texturglas include its high moisture permeance, which helps minimize mold and mildew formation, and its inherent characteristics that classifies it as an environmentally responsible commercial wall treatment.
  • Composition and Materials
    • Texturglas is a woven glass textile wallcovering product made from inert, readily available sand, lime and clay.  Texturglas can be finished with latex or oil base paint, epoxy coatings, multicolor finishes or faux finishes in any color.  The edges are precision trimmed for a nearly seamless appearance without overlap and double cut.
  • Types
    • Texturglas TG patterns require a base coat and a finish coat of paint.  The TGP patterns come preprimed from the factory and may require only 1 finish coat of paint when using a low luster or satin finish of light colors. Two coats of paint are acceptable. require only 1 coat of finish paint when using a low luster or satin finish of light colors. Two coats of paint are acceptable. The unprimed patterns require a primer coat of paint and a top coat of paint.
  • Size
    • Texturglas is available in bolts 39.4” (1m) wide, and bolts vary in length from 32 yards (30 meters) and 54 yds (50m) long bolts.
  • Patterns
    • Texturglas is available in various distinctive textures. Patterns range from linen weave and basket weave to herringbone, diamonds, and squares.
  • Finishes
    • The type of paint coating from latex to 2-part epoxy determines additional system performance. Faux finishes, glazes and metallics can also be used for more decorative finishes. Flat latex paint is not recommended for commercial application.
  • Colors
    • Texturglas is painted after installation.  Final appearance and color selection is limited only by the number of paint colors and finishes.

Weight of the material ranges from 3.5 oz/sq.yd. to 8.11 oz/sq.yd. Woven glass textile is a porous product that allows the migration of water vapor. See Technical Summary for information on each individual pattern.
  • Fire Rating
    • Class A fire rating.  Glass textile does not support combustion.  When tested in accordance with CAN/ULC-S102-M88: Flame Spread 5, Smoke Development 5. When tested in accordance with ASTM E84: Flame Spread 5, Smoke Development 0.

Installation

  • Preparatory Work
    • Handle and store product according to Texturglas recommendations.   Any experienced painting and wallcovering professional can install Texturglas. Standard tools and minimal surface preparation are required.  Use a suitable substrate primer/sealer to prepare surface.
  • Methods
    • Installation is either dry hang method or a paste machine can be utilized. For dry hang, heavy duty clear adhesive is rolled or sprayed on wall and Texturglas is applied after 2 to 3 minutes. Most all patterns can be pulled through a paste machine except for TG3 and TGP3. After adhesive is dry (1224 hours) apply 1 to 2 coats of paint.  Paint consumption ranges from 150 – 250 ft2/gal depending on texture.  Complete installation recommendations are available from Roos International, Ltd. Inc.
  • Precautions
    • Patterns TG3 and TGP3 should not be pulled through a paste machine.  Do not use a seam roller on any pattern. Texturglas alone is not a lead based paint encapsulant; however, it may be specified as a reinforced fiber material that, when used with an approved coating, can strengthen and stabilize the substrate and assist in enclosing lead based paint.
